Elderberry syrup is one of the oldest and celebrated natural immune system boosters out there, and an essential natural remedy to have in your house as a preventative, or to treat colds, flu and more. We made our own fresh from the trees and wanted to share the benefits with you so you can make you own.

Elderberries are a rich source of antioxidants (vitamin C) which help protect the body against damaging free radicals. They have been found to reduce the duration and symptoms of cold and flu and shown to have antiviral properties, making the immune system more effective in fighting off viral infections.
Elderberry can also help stimulate the immune system by increasing the production of cytokines, the chemicals that help regulate the immune response. It may also help to reduce inflammation in the respiratory system for coughs and excess phlegm too.
These delicious berries grow naturally in the UK and are usually ready for harvest in the summertime - although they are easily available to buy online, packaged and ready for you to make this awesome home tincture yourself.

We added Icelandic Sea Moss to our elderberry syrup as it contains a rich source of antioxidants and antimicrobial compounds that will also empower our final syrup mix.
Vitamin A, C, K,, Folate, Iron, Zinc, Potassium, Sodium and Calcium are just a few of the benefits of this rich naturally grown algae that also stimulates proper thyroid function, reducing inflammation, stimulating your hair and skin, protecting yourself from UV rays and much more.
Cloves, ginger, honey and cinnamon are also added too for the win.
Here’s how to make it… Ingredients to make a half litre, 500ml bottle to have in your fridge ready: 400g of elderberries. We hand picked ours for free back in August, but you can use elderberries found online too. 5 sprigs of Icelandic Sea Moss 🇮🇸 5 x cloves 1 x cinnamon stick 1 cup of honey 🍯 3 x heaped tablespoons of freshly chopped organic ginger 4 cups of distilled (or filtered water)
Watch the video on how to make it and remember to be careful with the final elderberry mix as it can stain clothing and fingers!
I use a tsp of this daily as a preventative, but for those who only think about their immune systems when they are thrown into bed, this Vit-C power-packed medicinal blend may well get you and yourself and family members through harsh times if taken throughout the day when you are run down and in need. x
